Go to Start/Control Panel. Double Click on mouse. Click on the other tab. Remove tray icon from taskbar should not have a check in it.

If there is no other tab then the touchpad drivers are not installed.

I'm having a bit of a problem with my Inspiron E1505 touchpad. The scroll sides on the side and the bottom of the touchpad won't scroll. I think my computer is recognizing the hardware as a mouse, not a touchpad. When I bring up the control pannel and go to "hardware" and then "Mouse", it says the device is a PS/2 Compatible Mouse. Is that right? I'm using Windows XP Professional if that helps any. Thanks!
