Help with crashes
Since upgrading to windows 8 my computer (Dell XPS 17 L702x) will at times crash with coloured lines across the screen and a buzzing sound. Occasionally when it does this it will turn itself off and restart however the majority of the time I have to manually turn the computer off. Before upgrading to windows 8 I installed 8GB of RAM 133mhz (Kingston memory) in my DELL XPS 17 L702X and everything worked fine until I installed windows 8. Is this a problem with my computer or a problem with windows 8also is there anyway to solve this problem.
thanks.
My specs are:
i5 2430m
GT555m (3GBddr3)
750GB hardrive HDD 7200rpm
8GB RAM 1333 mhz

Hi Dynamitedan2012,
Updating the BIOS, Chipset and video driver should fix the issue. The following links will help you download the necessary drivers;
Link for BIOS: http://dell.to/SUWm4X
Please connect the Ac Adapter while updating the BIOS and do not use the system once the update is initiated and until the system restarts completely.
Link for Chipset driver: http://dell.to/PTG4fe
Link for Video driver: http://dell.to/RX0Etr Intel driver
http://dell.to/TIuF02 Nvidia driver
The drivers have to be installed in the same order as mentioned above and please restart the system after every driver installation.
Please do reply for further assistance.
