Regarding the problem of CPU losing power might be because you did not plug in your laptop to AC power supply, causing it to enable Intel SpeedStep Technology, which decreases the power and frequency level resulting in slow performance. Another reason might be that when you play games, the CPU heats up and it starts thermal throttling. To check whether your processor really uses thermal throttling, allow me to introduce "RMClock" which is a free software that monitors the processor frequency closely. The spike in the perfomance is because of thermal throttling, and in my opinion thermal throttling cannot be disabled, or the processor's life may be shortened when heat damages it. If you want to check the temperature you can check out I8K at http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html. Don't worry that the laptop is not in the list of supported hardware. I am using Inspiron 1150 but it works fine. Try it out.

I forgot to mention that thermal throttling means slowing down the processor to prevent it from getting hotter as it is.
