"i" button on keyboard AccessDirect

I have an inspiron 1100. It has an i button next to the power button. The manual says it's called the "accessDirect" button, and that i can program it to use it to launch a certain program. It says go to the keyboard menu in the control panel and click the AccessDirect tab, but when i went there, there was no such tab. What's going on?

Also, an unrelated question: Is it important to have a surge protector to plug in your computer?

Another unrelated question: How can I connect my Inspiron to my tv to use it as a DVD player?

thanx

1) Have you re-installed your Operating System since getting the computer from Dell. If so, the Access Direct has to be reinstalled. Either way, it should be located on the Applications CD you got with your computer, just re-install it.

2) Where I live, power surges are very rare. Based on the value of my laptop, I use one anyways (plus it's built into my power bar, which I need anyways). But it's really up to you how much risk you like in your life.

3) Get an S-Video cable (from any electronics store) and connect it to your computer and to the "S-Video In" port (assuming there is one) on your tv or vcr

I figured out how to install it. thanx a lot. By the way, I just tried playing a dvd (my cpu's new) but it was extremely choppy. Can I fix this?

try to reinstall the video drivers. better yet, go to the downloads tab in this site and download the latest video driver.

I already have a video driver. I dont seem to have a "direct memory access controller" driver installed (I checked in Device Manager). Could that be the problem?
