i8500 headset feedback
Hi all,
Inspiron 8500, XP Pro SP2 RC2, SigmaTel AC97, S5wua06i.exe sound drivers using various VoIP apps with a KOSS headset.
I am getting excessive feedback and 1-2 second delay when testing the microphone headset and also when trying to use any VoIP apps making this an unworkable solution.
Tested the headset on another DELL laptop and no sound issues. It is very clear using VOIP apps and the built in XP Test Hardware utility (Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Device Properties, Voice, Test Hardware).
I have downloaded and run the Dell_Sig_Mod.reg, muted the mic and modem via the Volume Control but this seems to have no effect on either of the microphones and the delay and feedback problem persists.
1) Is there a built-in micrphone in the i8500 ? (seems to be but I can't find it)
2) How can I disable this built-in mic ?
3) Where is this built-in microphone physically located on the laptop ?
Any help appreciated.
