i8600 screen

I just got a new i8600 and I've noticed there's some kind of scratch on the middle of the screen. Does Dell fix this kinda thing?

If you're within 21 days of shipment, send the system back for replacement.

If you're outside 21 days, you can request replacement if you have Complete Care.  If you do not, you're either going to have to live with the scratch, or pay for a replacement screen ($600+ on a 15.4" panel).  The standard warranty won't cover physical damage to the system.

There's no practical way to repair a scratched LCD - the screen should be replaced.

I have 3 years of completecare so I'll wait until things get worse if they do and then send it in later. Anyway I just got it and want to use it some more.

if you are still in the 21 days period, insist that they send you a brand new replacement screen or threaten to return the system. If it were me, I woudnt wait

Even if I don't know what caused the scratch?

Yes If you just got it and the screen was scratched when you took it out of the box don't wait send it back and get a new one. Don't become so attached to it that you are left with a lemon.

When I look at it from an angle, I can see it and rather than a thinline scratch, its more like smudge that won't go away. I tried rubbin it gently with a soft cloth but that didn't work. Should I still call dell?

Rather than sending it back, I'd likke to call in-house service because I have that for 3 years. Phone number?

You'd be better off sending it back, but if you want to call: 1-800-624-9896

It's like buying a new car with a big dent in it and then letting the dealer fix it. It shouldn't have a dent in it in the first place.
