I am trying to find out hiw to insert a symbol such as a heart into emails through the use of ALT. Can it be done on a Dell without a right hand keyboard?
You can do the embedded keyboard easily. Make sure the Number Lock is on. Then hold the Fn and ALT keys down while you type the ASCII code for the character using the embedded keys. If you use only the upper row of numbers, it will not work.. You can easily find ASCII code numbers on-line. Print out a copy of what you need for reference.

gail1538,
Click start, all programs, acessories, system tools, character map
Look for the symbol, click on it, then copy. Go to the place you want the character, then right click, left click paste. You should then see...
