Inspiron 3147 High CPU usage windows 10
Hello
is anyone else who upgraded to windows 10 seeing high cpu usage (100%) all the time?
I searched around the web and found others (not necessarily dell 3147) experiencing the same thing. One forum I read suggested fooling with the power plans. I did this and discovered that if you reset the balanced plan to default settings it will cause the cpu usage to go back to normal until the laptop sleeps or it is rebooted.
I also read here a thread that seemed like some users are seeing this and part of the touchscreen not being responsive. I don't have that issue, just the high cpu one. It obviously also cause a major drain on the battery since the cpu is throttled up to full power/speed.
Everything else if working well and I just updated to the new 07 bios to make sure that wasn't the issue.
Any ideas or directions would be appreciated... I am pulling my hair out!

Hi wentzelg,
Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the operating system, and then download the BIOS from the BIOS section onto the system and install it.

In addition, I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.

Also, we need to check if the issue is caused due to any application installed on the system. So please clean boot the system using the link below and check if the issue reoccurs.

Please private message us the system service tag and the region you are located so that I can check the system configuration and assist you further. To send a private message, click on my name and send private message.
Please let me know if this helps.

Change Power Options from Dell to Balanced or High Performance. It fixed for me 100% CPU load
