Inspiron 6000 Battery Problem

I've a problem with my battery. It occured a few days ago after my computer ran out of battery and went into hibernate. I plugged the AC power on and turned my computer back on and the red light, that warns that battery is low, continued to flash. I thought that it'll go back to normal after the battery charges but it didn't. I tried to drain my battery again to recharge it but it still flashes red. The thing is they battery is fully charged. It operates normally out off AC power but the flashing red light is annoying me! I was wondering if there's anyway i could solve this problem? Also, when you press the battery life test button on the battery the three lights flash to warn me that the battery is 'dying' when in fact it's fully charged. Any ideas? Thank you!
