Inspiron 7500 Display Problem

Hello all,
Heres the problem im having. NO VIDEO COMES ON SCREEN!
Tried FN+F8 to switch to alt. monitor, but no go. assumed it was the video card so i bought a new one. still nothing. bought a new backlight inverter, still nothing. about to replace the DC board because it might be bad. . . . system apparently starts up as i can still hear beeps and normal boot process stuff.
Any help anyone can offer in this situation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time,

~Nathan

The backlight bulb is probably dead. It's inside the display and not generally a do-it-yourself replacement unless you have an antistatic soldering station and are experienced in soldering small parts.

Contact an LCD repair shop - replacement should run about $100-150, labor included.

The Backlight bulb is inside the LCD. as i mentioned before, the FN+F8 key to switch to a CRT monitor does nothing. leading me to believe it is something on the board, the lcd is brand new as of christmas 2004.

It sounds like it could be a bad mainboard.

Hi,

Dont rule out the suspend swicth as a cause. Quite common in 7000 / 7500. It is located on the IR board. If you have a backlight problem you will see a very dull image.

                                                                         Regards Chris
