inspiron 9100 screen display problem

i think my lcd display on my 9100 burnt out on me. i hooked up my laptop to a projector and i can see everything fine, but my 9100's display is just a black screen. has this happened to anybody else and did dell fix it?

sounds like you backlight need replacing.

Since an external display works fine you've pretty much isolated the problem to the LCD display. Best guess is that the backlight has gone bad or the inverter.
 
If it's not under warranty Dell will charge a LOT to fix this.  Better to shop around for an independent LCD repair shop.  Some recommend this one: http://lcdrepair.net/.   Very reasonable prices.
