Inspiron E1505 Battery Replacement charge problems
Hello!
I have a four year old Inspiron E1505 laptop and have just bought a replacement battery for it. The trouble is, it doesn't seem to be recharging. Indeed, when my AC power cord is plugged into my computer, the battery charge light doesn't come on. then again, it hasn't come on in about a year. I left my computer shut down overnight when the battery was down to 10% (it arrived with 60% charge) but eight hours later, it was only at 17%.
Is this a common problem with replacement batteries? How do I resolve this issue?

If the new battery is not from Dell (i.e., is third party) that may be the problem. Third party batteries can be problematic.
If it is a Dell OEM battery, and it's not charging, try a new Dell adapter first - if that doesn't solve the problem, you're in for an expensive mainboard repair or replacement that simply isn't worth the cost on a system this old.

MY son bought a Dell lap top 4-5 yrs. ago, the battery crapped out. It will work, but only if plugged in. It is an inspiron. Can you send him a replace battery?
I don't have all the details RE: MAKE, MODEL, S/N etc.,available.
THANKS IN ADVACE

Hi Ruth Kayser,
Please check this link for troubleshooting battery issues: http://dell.to/dGcYMU
As the laptop is 5 years old, the warranty of the laptop might be inactive. You can purchase the battery from this link: http://bit.ly/Raga7K
Please reply for any further help.
