Inspiron E1505 screen help

I have an Inspiron E1505 and I am now having issues with the screen frame coming apart.  When I close the laptop the hinge corners seperate.  I don't know what to do about this.  Anyone else have this problem?

Hi

My inspiron 6400 / e1501 has similar problem. It's right lower corner display panel shows near 2mm gap while closing the display. I opened the display bezel and noticed that the corner's screw-holder has warn out.

I may have to change the display bezel ( the cover holding the LCD screen).

Your problem appears similar. You have to carefully open the display panel to locate the problem.

Shailen,

I had this same exact problem as well, and after much exploration i thought the problem had originally stemmed from the hinge being rusted and not turning anymore, and thus creating this wedged gap in that part of the lcd panel.  so i replaced the hinge on the bad side.  But it did not solve the problem because i think i need to do what you are saying and replace one of the screw or rather screw holders that must have been busted out or worn as a result of all this pressure.

Can you help me with a little more description of what screw exactly you replaced and if it fixed it for you?  Any description you can give would be helpful.

I also have to say that I am not too pleased with Dell's lack of support for this problem; all they try to do is make me sign up for an extended warranty when all i want is some assistance reviewing those specific parts of my computer and a little help in telling me what i can do to fix my own problem.  The computer was just barely over a year old in the first place when this started happening!  Dell has always been pretty good at helping me many times when it comes to the CPU issues that are not so nuts and bolts related; even when my support contract is up.  But this is riduclous.  They put together a shoddy casing for a computer and don't even publish the service info necessary for me to fix it myself (the service manual on the website is a joke!!) and then they want me to pay to big bucks for a support contract so they can fix what should not have been so poorly built in the first place....i may not be buying another Dell in the future if they don't step up to the plate on this one...

I just started having the same problem yesterday.  I pulled out my warranty information to see if it is covered and the paperwork states I have a 4 year Limited Warranty (I purchased 2 years ago).  Dell's website states that the "Limited Warranty covers your PC for defective parts and workmanship".  Feeling as though this is a defective part/workmanship, I contacted Dell's warranty department.  I was told by a rep and his supervisor that these things do not just break and it is not covered under the limited warranty.  They both rudely stated that it would be covered under the CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service, but since I did not purchase it is not covered.  I stated that this was not accidental damage and that the part is defective.  They asked if it was like that when I got it and I said "no".  They said "then it is not defective" it is damaged and they will not cover.  After reading that others are having the exact problem, this reaffirms for me that this is a defect.  Dell stated that they would happily diagnose the problem for me for $498.  That is ridiculus and I have lost complete respect for Dell.  Has anyone had this same experience?
