Inspiron M5010 Screen Problem

I have the above mentioned laptop that recently started having screen glitches.  It would flicker and the image was fuzzy.  External display would display the screen as it should be, with no problems.  I replaced the screen with the exact part number.

When it starts up with the new screen the windows logo flashes a few times and the screen no longer responds.  When I hold down the power button to shut the laptop off the log-in screen appears momentarily and the laptop shuts down as intended.

I reinstalled the old defective screen and it still displayed the defects that originally presented to prompt the replacement.  However, if i switch out screens while the laptop is running, the new one works perfectly fine, leading me to believe that it is a driver issue (with the new screen).

I updated the driver, no change.  I uninstalled the driver to force the laptop to run the generic windows driver, no change.  As it sits now, the new screen is black and I can operate the laptop on an external monitor.

Anyone?

I just compared the two screens outside of the laptop.  I noticed the part# for the original is N156B6 L0B Rev. C1 whereas the new part number is LP156WH2

I originally thought my part number was the same as the one I ordered, based on information found on the internet.

Could this cause this issue?  Are these screens interchangeable?
