Inspiron Memory Controller Failure
I'm curious where to go from here. About two years ago, I purchased an Inspiron 600m with 1GB RAM and a 60GB HDD and PC 333 memory modules (2x512MB).
About a month ago, I noticed the system would intermittently reboot suddenly. This reboot process had gotten worse over time and is now constant.
I downloaded and ran MemTest86+ to see what the matter was. It said I had a problem with one of my two memory modules. I took each out and then ran Memtest with only one installed. Still showed the same issue.
I then took some memory from another inspiron I have here at worked and put it in the laptop. I ran Memtest and still showed the errors. I then took my memory and put it in the other laptop and ran memtest - no errors.
This would indicate to me the controller or something is bad. I googled and searched this forum with no luck. Any ideas?
