Hi S.Ranganathan,

Thank you for sharing the operating system.

Windows 8 has a ‘Camera’ application that can be used with the webcam. You may refer to the link below to check how to use the ‘Camera’ application.

The link is http://dell.to/18O8a1f

You may uninstall the Dell Webcam Central application from the system. The steps are:

  • Right click on the screen’s bottom-left corner and choose the Control Panel from the pop-up menu.
  • When the Control Panel appears, choose Uninstall a Program from the Programs category.
  • Click the ‘Dell Webcam Central’ program and then click its Uninstall, Change, or Repair button.
  • When Windows asks whether you’re sure, click ‘Yes’.

Please feel free to reply for any further assistance.

Hi S.Ranganathan,

Please elaborate what exactly happens.

Is the system unable to detect the webcam or the drivers are uninstalling on their own.

Do you have to install the Webcam Central application, every time you have to use the camera?

Keep me posted with the information. I will be glad to assist you.

Thankhs for interest shown on my query

Not much idea about detect the webcam or drivers are uninstalling on their own.

When the web cam has  not functioned,  once I was told by Dell Tech personnel to re install the web cam utility through the CD provided by them.

Since then,  I have been following the above method and could see the camera working.  Within two days/three days again the camera function is out of order.  When I checked the camera functioning through Device manager, the following message is appearing under Image Devices/Integrated Web Cam.

Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

Need a permanent solution.  Pl help

Hi S.Ranganathan,

Try uninstalling the USB Controllers from the device manager and restart the system.

  • Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen
  • Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’
  • Click > sign next to ‘Universal Serial Bus Controller’
  • Right click on the ‘USB Root’ Hub entry and click on ‘Uninstall’
  • Restart the system.

Also, as the error suggest, the issue could be caused by a lose connection. You may try to press the area near the webcam gently to see if that makes any difference.

Please share the operating system installed.

Keep me posted with the results. I will be glad to assist you.
