INTEL HD GRAPHICS 3000 INTERNAL VIDEO MEMORY PROBLEM

Hello,

I have an  Inspiron 15R N5110 laptop. So, last week i upgraded BIOS version to A11. But there is a problem with my internal graphic card's memory which was 1024 MB now is 64 MB. The question is "How do I fix mine internal card?" Here is the system specs:

  1. Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz
  2. Microsoft Windows 7 Home Basic
  3. Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 1024MB
  4. NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M 1024MB

Also I don't watch anything at HD although having HD graphic card.

Thank you for now if anybody is interested with my trouble. :emotion-1:

Hi,

This is not an issue with the integrated video card; this is a design feature. The HD Graphics 3000 has no dedicated memory but shares the Level 3 / LLC Cache with the CPU cores and also part of the main memory. Intel graphics do not have dedicated memory but utilizes some of the computer's system memory. Intel HD Graphics integrates high-performance graphics and media processing right on the processor, putting the two key gaming components – CPU processing and graphics, together on a single chip. You may want to refer to the web article on Intel website for more details: http://intel.ly/bIiEEK

You may use the following method to view your computer's maximum graphics memory:
- Click 'Start'
- Click 'Control Panel'
- Click on 'Appearance and Personalization' and then 'Personalization' (or click Classic View, and then double-click on Personalization)
- Click 'Display Settings'
- Click 'Advanced Settings'
- Click the 'Intel graphics' driver's tab
- Click the 'Graphics Properties' button
- Click the 'Information button' in bottom-left corner or the 'i button' in upper right corner of the window. The maximum amount of graphics memory is listed in the Maximum Graphics Memory field

Hope this helps. Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.

The main problem is how i can increase from 64MB to 1024MB if there is a way.

Hi,

The amount of graphics memory depends on the computer model's specific configuration. The maximum amount of graphics memory that is possible for your computer is pre-configured from factory. The system setup/BIOS of this laptop does not permit any changes to this value.

Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.

Hi easyguy,

Please share the details of your system model, if this 'motherboard' was shipped with a 'Dell computer'; need to look at the system configuration for the information. (BIOS options may be different for OEM systems)

However, if you purchased the 'motherboard' yourself for your Dell (or using a custom built system), you may want to refer to its manual. I found this document while researching; you may find it useful (Downloadable): http://bit.ly/1444VE5

Hope this helps. Do reply if you have any further questions; would be glad to assist.

Hi easyguy,

Glad that you found the option to change the 'memory usage' for on-board graphics adapter in the motherboard BIOS.
Thank you for the confirmation.

more than 4 gigs requires 64 bit processor and 64 bit OS.  Mixing different size vendors and or sizes of ram is not recommended. Aka choose 4 aka 2x 2gig or 8 2x 4 gig etc.

There won't be an option if you're asking about a Dell notebook or a Dell desktop system - there is no manual allocation option for the video RAM.

Hi, i also use intel HD graphics 3000 on my laptop Lenovo icore 5 2520M. I have a total of 1350MB graphics memeory but only 32 dedicated. I could not play much games with my 2GB ram. It is only when i increase the ram to 8GB that i started playing games which require even 512MB. Though, my laptop doesnot have DVMT, intel HD uses part of the RAM to allocate memory for games.
