Issue with Ctrl keypad button - Complaint.
Hello,
My Ctrl button on the bottom left of my laptop's keypad fell off and has a small plastic part missing so it will not go back on properly, the button still works that's not an issue it's the plastic button that needs replaced. I phoned up the support helpline and told them the problem and they told me I had to pay £90 for the WHOLE keypad to be replaced as they don't have spare button parts...Im sorry but I don't think this is right there is nothing wrong with the keypad it is only the key case that needs replaced not the whole of the keypad.

There are some vendors on EBay who sell individual keys -- but the cost of a keyboard is nowhere near what you were quoted. In the US, they run $30 or less.

I managed to buy a single key from another site for £2. When I spoke to Dell on the phone I got the impression the guy I was talking too was just trying to make a sale he told me it was not possible to buy single keys and I would need a whole brand new keypad. Not good trying to rip off paying customers....

Well it all goes according to what warranty you have. Essentially Dell doesn't carry single keys as parts, you would have to get an entire keyboard replaced. If you have any kind of hardware warranty at all, and you told them the key just became loose and came off while you were typing it should have been replaced. If you told them you dropped it or did something to take it off they might not replace it. If you dont have complete care.
