Laptop LCD Screen problems

Question

I slammed the laptop screen down too hard. Now when I turn it on, the back light of the screen is ON. But there is no image on the screen. The screen is black. I connected an external monitor to the laptop by a cable, the monitor displayed the image, and everything else seems to be fine. I opened up the LCD panel, and checked the connections, everything looks OK. The LCD screen itself is not cracked or anything. I am assuming the problem could be the cable connecting the LCD to the mother board or the LCD itself. so how do I diagnose the problem?
