Laptop powers down unexpectantly.

I have several laptops (C800) in my company that will "power down" sporadically and unexpectantly throughout the day.  There seems to be no common denominator that causes this.  They can be in a docking station or out...it doesn't seem to matter.  I have replaced the docking station(s), power supply, batteries, I have run antivirus, Adaware, and everything else I can think of but nothing seems to help.  We are running Windows 2000 as the OS.  All critical updates and patches have been applied.  There is no third party software on any of these laptops...we use Office 2000 as our office suite of software.

After a few minutes, or a couple of hours (again, nothing is consistent) the laptops can be booted back up.

Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause, and hopefully the cure, for this problem?

Have you updated the BIOS in the affected systems to the most recent version?  Have you run the Dell Diagnostics (details in your system documentation) on them to look for hardware problems?

You might try removing and reseating the memory modules (and the CPU, if possible, although I'm not sure what would be involved in that, as far as a C800 goes - it's quite simple on the CP_ models).  If that doesn't work, and if the systems are under warranty, you may want to consider contacting Support by phone, to see what they recommend.
