Laptop randomly stopped working, started beeping at me instead.
My wife and I have a Dell Inspiron M5010. (I have any other numbers you need for it upon request) that randomly stopped working last night. It was fine when I closed it for the night, and then when she woke up this morning (about 6 hours later) it was powered off, and just beeped at her when she tried to turn it on.
When I got up, I thought maybe the cord had simply fallen out. I tried switching plugs, and the green light lights up on the cord box itself, but nothing lights up on the laptop. Please help.

Just to note, it was a storm here last night (Rhode Island). It wasn't bad, and the laptop has remained plugged in and on through worse, but just might be worth noting.

Hi coolhandlukeri,
I am sorry about the situation. I suggest that you shut the system down, remove the battery and disconnect the ac adapter and all peripherals. Press and hold the power button for 20 to 30 seconds. Now connect only the ac adapter and wait for 30 seconds and turn on the system. This will drain any residual charge in the capacitors.
If the system is not turning on and if none of the LEDs are coming on the system, I suspect the motherboard has failed. Please click on the link below to check the warranty of the system.
