Laptop stuck in standby mode...Need to restart

There have been many users complaining that when they arrive in the morning their laptop is stuck in standby mode.  The monitor screen remains black and the only way to get it to work is to restart the machine.  And even then it takes 3 or 4 tries.  Sometimes I need to undock the laptop and redock it for it to work.  Has anyone experienced this issue?  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
