Latitude CPi Battery Problem

I have a latitude CPi D300XT that has a wierd problem.  With the battery in the proper battery bay, it will charge properly and will show the charge indicator in the BIOS just how it is supposed to.  It will not power on under battery power though.  When I switch the battery to the CD-ROM / Media bay the battery works fine.  The unit also runs fine on A/C.  Just no battery power when the battery is in the battery bay.

Anyone have any ideas what to do to fix it?  The unit is well out of warranty and I don't mind taking it apart myself, I just don't want to spend a lot of money on it.  I just like it because it is very portable and does what I need it for.

Thanks in advance

Steve

What bios version are you using?

A12....Just updated it.  The charging problem existed prior to that.

Probably the problem is due to a burned through smd chip on your 'video' board. Take a look at the board.

The chip next at the most right and most bottom.. just at the right side of the print.

You will probably notice that the 3 pin on the lower part is burned through.

I've seen it on a couple of prints.. i even incided a burn-through when i was placing a faulty processor.

I dunno if that is your problem, but you will get the EXACT same problems (battery charges fine, laptop boots fine with battery in other slot, but wont do anything when NOT plugged into mains and plugged into the battery slot).

Well it's a late reply., but maybe it helps other people.
