The CPx had a problem with the CPU card coming loose on occasion. Remove the EMI shield on the right side (under keyboard). Remove the heat pipe. Remove the three screws for the processor card. Gently pry the card up (main connector is on the left side). Then reseat it pressing firmly. Reinstall the heat pipe and EMI shield. Keyboard too. See how that goes.
I've reseated the CPU and it makes no difference. I haven't been able to get it started more than once in the last two days. Now it starts to boot, but when it queries the drives it freezes.
I put in a new hard drive a month ago, what a waste of money.
I'm going to buy a new laptop, and it will not be a Dell.
Your CPx is a bit dated. If this system failure gives you a bad taste for Dell, you'll probabaly be more disappointed in your next selection from another company. I would be pleased in getting this many years from a CPx.

Hi,
Have a look at the display cable, it may be rubbed through on the back of the keyboard. The freezing on the internet may be a software issue.
