Latitude D610 memory upgrade problem
I have been trying to upgrade my Latitude D610 to 2GB RAM. I have two 1 gig sticks of Kingston memory sytem specific for this model, DDR2, 533Mhz
I have been having a problem with installing both sticks in the laptop. If i leave the 512Mb in DIMM A that came with the system, I can put either one of the 1 gig sticks in DIMM B and there are no problems, and the system reads 1.5GB. However, the minute I replace the 512MB in DIMM A with either one of the the 1 gig sticks, the computer refuses to boot up. It won't even let me get ot he BIOS which I would think would indicate a memory read issue. Both new sticks seem to work because they check out fine whenever I plug either one of them into DIMM B. I am getting tired of having to remove the whole keyboard to get to DIMM A to try different combinations and I worry that I am going to start breaking the little plastic tabs that hold the cover pieces together. Is ther some issue with the DIMM A slot or is ther some weird thing that won't allow my D610 to go beyoned 1.5GB. The bios is AO6 and I am running XP pro SP2. Any thoughts?

All indicators suggest that this should work unless your memory is not compatible. You have the most current BIOS. Max memory per slot is 1GB. Try going into the BIOS and set to BIOS defaults. Then install 1GB stick in the slot that is not working and see if it will boot. Try one memory stick at a time. You also may not be seating the 1GB memory slot all the way in. So make sure the stick has been seated correctly.

Did you ever solve this problem? I just got a 2GB kit of Kingston RAM for my D610 and am going the exact same thing.

Hi, I have the exact same problem, I tried the above that you suggested with no success. I installed the RAM in an Inspiron 1525 just to test it and it tested fine with no errors. However I still want to use it with the D610.
