Latitude E5400 8GB memory
I find it strange that the E5400 is not capable of 8GB RAM. All the other E series Latitude are 8GB capable and even some older D series Latitudes can handle 8GB RAM. Is there a BIOS update that will allow the E5400 to go to 8GB? I see some 3rd party memory resellers claim they can provide 8GB, while other such as Crucial (whom I trust) claim max is 4GB.
Any knowledge on this E5400 issue would be helpful.

Well, I've been told during a support phone call to Dell that Latitude E5400 model can be shipped with two differents video hardware controllers.
So that 4GB RAM limitation depends on which video hardware you actually have.
If you have an integrated Intel video controller, then your limitation is 4GB RAM. Whereas having a Nvidia video controller, allows you to have up to 8GB RAM. \o/
This is all detailed in the "Setup and Features Information Tech Sheet" (currently available on support.dell.com/.../sfits_en.zip ).
Dell's support service could easily identify my video card based on my service tag.

But has anyone tried to use 8Gb on the intel onboard model that can provide feedback please?
On Intel ARK it says that integrated Intel GM45 supports 8Gb also.
I have an older HP DV6130ea laptop that the brand says it only supports Max 2Gb, but it works fine with 4Gb.
