Latitude E6320 erratic behaviour
Hi all,
Kinda silly problem.
I have a Latitude E6320 that has this symptoms:
- every now and then when I press the start button, DELL logo does not show (loading bios), the the fan starts to spin really fast, black screen, and then stops spinning, and the three leds on the left blink. As I already checked on led error on this laptop, it means that it has a system board error.
First thought: bad board, but, with no pattern what so ever, some time I can still boot im in, but after several tries...
even without a HDD (at least dell logo should show) it stil has that behaviour (spin fast, no spin, error leds) which it can oly be stopped by pulling out the battery...
Any hints of what it might be?
Thanks in advance
(actual bios A14)

Hi Chinmay,
Thanks for your reply.
Apparently, as I said, there is no patern on the error.
For example, today I started, and all is ok...although I get a feeling that perhaps we are dealing more of an problem regarding temperature issue. If the computer is "fresh"...works a charm...if it is hot, even a reboot could be a problem...
I'm saying this because yesterday I let it made some updates and after some time (a couple of hours), computer was off and when I start him on again I got the message that (...)computer was off because of high temperature(...).
Tried to get to bios messages...nothing...
Does DELL has any sw that can provide any analysis on the system more advanced?
Will sign you up as friend...
Regards....

Hi,
May I know if you are able to see the Dell logo at start up when you remove the battery and try to power on the computer.
Instructions to load BIOS and system settings are loaded on the BIOS chip on the system board. Removing the hard drive and then powering on, will not fix this issue. The system board might need a replacement.
Here's some information regarding the notebook LED codes when a possible error occurs:
The computer might emit a series of beeps during start-up if the display cannot display errors or problems. One possible beep code consists of repetitive three short beeps. You can let me know if you hear any beep codes at system start up as well.
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.
Please reply with information.

Hi Nasps,
Please ensure that the vents of the system are clean and allow free circulation of air inside the system. You may use a can of compressed air to clean the vents. For more information on cleaning the vents, please visit the following link: http://dell.to/SAep59
Once you clean the air vents, check if you face the same issue after that.
If the issue is still not resolved, you can update the BIOS to latest version.
Note: Before flashing the BIOS please check the following:-
Link to download the latest BIOS is: http://dell.to/SaBd6d

Hi,
Thank you for your quick response. I have received the Service Tag of your computer. Please let me know if you are still facing issues with unexpected system shutdown and system temperature. Your computer is shipped with a diagnostic utility. You can run the diagnostics on your computer to check the system hardware and check the temperature of system following the steps below:
When you get to the screen below, it will show you the Current, High and low options for different components.
This will show you the exact temperature of your Dell computer. You can make a note of the temperature of your computer.
I can provide you a direct link to download and update BIOS.
Note: Before flashing the BIOS please check the following:-
You can download the A15 BIOS for your computer from link: http://en.community.dell.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/3518/0550.E6320_5F00_A15_5F00_BIOS.zip
