Latitude e6410 Bitlocker TPM

When I try to enable BitLocker on my C: drive, I get the following message:
“A compatible Trusted Platform (TPM) Security Device must be present on this computer, but a TPM was not found. Please contact your system administrator to enable BitLocker.”
Works OK on Drive D:

After consulting with Dell chat, TPM and BitLocker now work.  Downloaded and installed the following updates.

Update the latest drivers in the following order.

 Dell ControlPoint Security Manager Application

Dell ControlPoint Security Device Driver Pack

Follow instructions for any additional drivers.

Thank you for your input.  TPM looks to be enabled and active in the BIOS.  I should have said I can turn on BitLocker on the D: partition (FAT32) without the same message.  Asks for password and begins to encrypt D:.  My C: partition is NTFS.  Should there be some evidence of TPM in device manager after TPM is enabled/activated in the BIOS?  I'm beginning to wonder whether my E6410 has the TPM 1.2 chip as I ordered it without finger print reader.

Found these 2 errors  in the system log.  Looks like I need to contact Dell.

1.  "The device driver for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encountered a non-recoverable error in the TPM hardware, which prevents TPM services (such as data encryption) from being used. For further help, please contact the computer manufacturer."

2.  "An internal TBS error was detected. The error code was 0x8007045d. This is usually caused by unexpected TPM or driver behavior and may be transient."

Enable the TPM in BIOS setup (f2 at powerp).

OK, after beating my head against a wall fixing this problem here is what you do. To begin all devices in the Device Manager showed to be installed correctly with the Broadcom TPM being found under the System Devices category.

We use the 32 bit version of Win7 on our corporate builds so investing the time on this was worth it.

1st update the BIOS on your 6310 to version A09. Look into the device manager and you will see the Broadcom TPM under system devices.

Right click on it and select update drivers. {see Figure 1}. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".

Select Broadcom Trusted Platform Module (A2), v1.2.

Now Win 7 should see the TPM under  Control Panel\System and Security\BitLocker Drive Encryption.

Reboot the box and press F2.

Under security enable the TPM.

Reboot entering BIOS again and enable the TPM.

Boot windows and turn on bitlocker, store your recovery key and encrypt the drive.

Hope this helps.:emotion-2:
