The flashing on on led code points toward the CPU connector on motherboard, but very rarely the issue can be memory.

Can you try reseating the memory and keep it under observation.

Please follow the video on how to remove the memory . Once the observation is done, put back the memory in similar fashion and let us know.

question have you ran a full stress test on your ram. I've found that most of my random problems tent to lead to memory issues.

Thank for the link to the memory reset procedure, it seems pretty straight forward. With regards to the question I'm not sure that I know what a stress test is, but before writing to this forum I did run the diagnostics program offered by Dell which I believe includes testing the RAM and it passed.

The thing that actually intrigues me is that my understanding is the processor will try accessing the memory AFTER running CMOS and if that is so, I should be able to see the BIOS/CMOS opening page at power on before the system crashes, which doesn't happen. The laptop either starts normally, or doesn't at all (totally black screen) and does a few noises followed by the blinking num lock and the lit up caps and scroll lock. With that said, does it still make sense to try the memory thing, or should I rather try removing and reinserting the processor (? do you have a video for that?). Very appreciated!

I definitely would not recommend removing the processor, as that would void the warranty (if the machine is under warranty) and might lead to further issues at hardware level.

We are giving it a try by reseating the memory (only if you feel comfortable).

Your can try updating the BIOS, just in case , and keep the machine under observation.
