Latitude XT WiFi error

I have just 'inherited' a Latitude XT with XP running on it.  The Wireless icon in the tray has a red cross on it and when I click it it says that no driver is loaded.  I downloaded Driver + Diagnostic suite from Dell and installed.  The Diagnostic shows the Broadcom NetXtreme with a red cross over it.  Yet most of the tests run through OK and Pass.  The only one that fails is the Network Test which says 'Link down'.

Within the Broadcom ASF Configuration the EEPROM Test results fail.

I'm beginning to think that this thing does not have a wireless network card in it at all.  How can I confirm that?  Alternately any guidance on solving this problem would be very gratefully received.
