If you can see a very dull image, it will be the backlight. You say at one point it was black and also say you could see an image with a light. Parts-people have them from $150, but none at the moment. ( 2nd hand ) They may be worth a try. Before spending any money, be sure of the fault.
There are special LCD repair shops in the US, I would try one. It isnt something I would rush into to repair myself. You may be able to find an LCD on Ebay. You could even try the cable and invertor, but its not likely.
What I ment when I said it was black is that I couldn't see anything unless I shined a flashlight on it or a bright light. I have always been able to see something.
If it is the backlight, is that something I can fix myself? How much is the part?

Hi,
Sounds like your backlight has failed. It may be just the invertor, but you will most likely need the whole panel.

What is the part number that I need?
How much can I expect to spend to get it?

Hi,
You can easily replace the panel, but to repair it I would go to a shop. Check the prices before you decide.

Thanks for all your help on this.
So the only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD and that I am better off taking it to a repair shop to get that done.
I will start looking.
Thanks again
