You might take a look and see if something such as the display cable is loose, which could easily cause a distortion when jarred, before going through the Dell hassle of a return.
I can't answer that in an official capacity. However, look over your warranty and see if it says anything about opening the case. You're not actually removing the motherboard, just getting to the flex cable to see if the connection on both ends is seated properly.
