Light Leaks
Sorry for the double post but i thought no one looks at the video section that often
I have a 700m, two 5100's (2 kids in College) and a 8100.......... is it normal for their to be light leaks from the sides of the lcd screen just behind the plastic boarders? All of them demonstrate some minor form of light leak whether its from the sides or maybe from the bottom..... my regular lcd screens hooked up to my desktops don't leak...They are totally sealed and i remember when i bought these two Mag 19" lcd screens one did have a light leak and Mag told me to return it for replacement.
Any input would be appreciated

You mean AROUND the screen??? Not the side of the plastic shell the LCD is mounted in right??
I have 4 notebooks, 1 old IBM, 2 C610 Dell's and a I8200 Dell and they all have some light coming out around the screen itself in certain places and they are all in different location aroung the screen. So I'd say it fairly normal. It all depend on how much and how you see it. If I look at the screen at a angle I see more than if I'm looking straight at it. Yes I have 2 desktop LCD monitors also and NO I don't see any light coming out of the shell around the screen. But these are 18" panels and they do not move up and down 2-3-4-5-6-7 times a day.

have you tried pushing the lcd together at the edges? if not, call dell and ask for a replacement or help because my 9300 doesn't leak light. good luck and post back with update/more questions!!! :-)

Thank you both hunterelite and ed c.... I put the question out there to see what reactions or comments i would get.. i have to agree with ed c. This is my second 700m and like my other four dell lap tops they all leak light a little.. but you do have to look into the boarders between the screen and the case . I didn't mean to incinuate there were cracks in the case..........thanks again..
I would stlll like to hear other opinions
