Logitech Quickcam mic & Sigmatel

Hi All,
Please, could you help me in fixing the issue?
I mounted on inspiron e1505, xindows xp, sp2, ie7, directx9... a logitech quickcam deluxe & sw 10.4.
Problem I have is related to the mic. It is not possible to install the drivers, it is showed Logitec mic on device manager with yellow escalamation mark!

I read on Logitech forum that is possible to mount MS mic, but I am not able because it is not showed on device manager following driver update.

Please, could you help

Thanks

hi  there's knowned issues with sigmatel and logitech cameras, i had some problems with my quickcam for notebooks pro...go to logitech website and be sure to download the latest driver for your camera uninstall the old version completely and reinstall with the latest one, that did it for me....
be sure to install latest driver for sigmatel from dell website...also there's logitech user forums where you might find information for your particular camera..hope that helps..

Hi, Thanks for your suggestions.
I did already that, but still mic doesn't work.
I hope Dell support will help me in configuring the mic.
I heard could be possible to install microsoft mic instead of Logitech one, but I am not able to do that because it is not displyed on the driver.

Helps are welcome.

Thanks and Happy Xmas.

have you tried unchecking the box for "use only default devices" at the bottom under control panel>sound and audio devices properties>audio?

btw I'm using a logitech quickcam pro notebook webcam with the latest drivers and have no problems with the webcam mic.

for me it's quickcam 10.4.0.1401 and dell sigmatel driver 5.10.0.4995  A06.
When i was looking in logitech's users forum i saw that some people had success in uninstalling the mic driver from hardware tab and let xp reinstall it's own driver..Merry Christmas...

yes that's the one...first when i installed my webcam with quickam 10.4 which was on the cd that came with it, i had some problems like computer freezing during video conversation or would not boot up when the camera was connected to it....from what i've learned from this problem it has a lot to do to logitech's rightsound driver ...Anyway since i've installed the latest version of their software everything is working nice...Like i told you before try to make a real clean uninstall of the quickcam software, and try with the latest version of quickcam available for your camera...Visit logitech's users forum you might find some additionals answers...Good luck..

Hi Otomax, which software are you using at the momeny for the webcam? I have installed the latest version 10.5, it is working but after a half hour I had the BSOD problem. With the 10.4 I never had problems.

Hi Otomax,
I tried to install 10.5 version... without success.
When you say: "real clean uninstall of the quickcam software" that, what is the way u r using?

Thanks Happy New Year

Hi....i would stay away from version 10.5 since i saw on logitech's forums that it causes some problems and doesn't seem to fix anything regarding the sound driver issue
which causes the blue screen of death...
what i mean by a clean uninstall is first do add/remove programs and uninstall anything regarding the quickcam, then delete the quickcam folder in C program files/logitech and delete quickcam folder also from shared files; when you did all that if you have a good registry cleaner run it.
reboot and then install the quickcam software.
i'm still using the 10.4 mentioned in my post above as it's working fine for me...
I must say i'm a bit surprised about logitech's problems with this software..i've always been a fan of their products as i've been using both the quickcam web then the messenger and now the notebook pro as i bought myself a laptop.
They should try to ship their software as problem free as possible...
Anyway happy new year everybody........................
