Looking for driver for ATI Radeon HD 4650 Win7 64bit

Hello All,

New to this forum and I hope that I'm posting in the proper one.

Event viewer shows an error that refers to atikmdag with 2 event IDs: 43029 & 52236.
Online search finds "clues" that the ATI driver may have to be updated so I'm looking for the most recent one...

The one recommended on Dell's support site does refer to the ATI Radeon 4250 but nothing that indicated 4650, which I have.

My lap: Inspiron M5010 (AMD-based), win7 64bit. The video card per subject line.
The latest driver that I can find on Dell's site is dated 5/21/2010 with file name R270085.

Is anyone aware of a later-dated driver, in which case a link would be appreciated.
Should I use the one mentioned above?
Should I look for a driver on AMD's site?
Should I look for one on ATI's site?

TIA for any helpful input.

Hi

Welcome to Dell community!

Inspiron M5010 system is available with two video configurations:

  1. Integrated AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 video card
  2. Discrete AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550v video card

May I know where did you check that the laptop has ATI Radeon 4650 video card? Also, please confirm the system model.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

1. Both from Device Manager and from "System Information". I don't know if there's a way to attach a jpg file here,
however, I don't think that it really necessary.

2. Positive about the model.

Hi

May I know if you have tried installing the ATI 4250 drivers available at Dell support website under Inspiron M5010? If you have not tried that, download and save the ATI 4250 drivers. Also download and save the “Catalyst Software Suite” at the following link: http://dell.to/1dDPrLk

Refer the following link for instructions to uninstall the existing video card drivers from the computer: http://dell.to/1ebC2sx

Restart the computer once the drivers are uninstalled and try installing the previously downloaded ATI 4250 drivers. If it does not work, try installing the “Catalyst Software Suite”.

Do let me know the results.
