M101z Drivers issue

Hey there fellow dellers!

I have formatted my laptop (M101z Inspiron) the other day and I have been struggling to find the its drivers since. I have found some from third-party websites but I can tell that my laptop isnt running smoothly, including graphics, webcam drivers missing and so on. My warranty expired a few months ago, so that isnt an option either. Where could i find the official dell drivers or some sort of package to install it all as it were?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Vally,

Welcome to the Community,

After reinstalling Windows you need to reinstall the drivers in the correct order as given in the link below:

support.dell.com/.../document

To get the drivers go to www.support.dell.com,drivers and downloads, enter system Service tag number or select Choose from list of Dell product(select system model,Inspiron 1120),select Operating System. This will giveyou list of applicable drivers for your system.

Note:Inspiron M101z is also refered as Inspiron 1120.On your system there should be a sticker which says Model 1120

To download Webcam Central application use this link : http://dell.to/PV17s2

Let me know if you need any further help.

Thank You

Hey Roshan thanks for your response

I was reading through the guide How-to-install and i came cross this

2.4 Installation Sequence
The list below is a general overview of drivers and applications that must be installed on Dell
Latitude E-Family & Mobile Precision systems in a prescribed order to ensure optimal performance.
Actual system configurations may vary.

Note: Dell Alienware, Inspiron, Studio, XPS and Vostro Laptops may have different installation
sequence. Please refer to Dell Support Website for these Laptops.

Besides, when I formatted my laptop barely anything was working so i had to connect it to the ethernet to get some of the drivers.
The installation order of drivers is still slightly unclear to me.

Thanks
vally

Hi Vally,

2.4 Installation Sequence is not applicable for your system as you've a Dell Inspiron system. That is for Latitude E-Family & Mobile Precision systems. The first page of the link which I posted is applicable for your system.

After reinstalling the Windows its best to install the Notebook System Software, followed by Chipset. This helps the Windows to recognize the hardware components on your system. If you install the other drivers before this two, than those drivers may not get installed.

So if you've successfully installed the network card  driver, you can continue by installing the Notebook System Software,Chipset,Audio,Video,Wireless Card, followed by other applicable drivers.

Did the Webcam application work on your system?

Hi Vally,

I've checked and Notebook system software is not applicable for your system. You can start with Chipset driver.
