M1330 mouse button failures
Dell forum,
My wife has a Dell XPS 1330 and plays video games a lot.
We have replaced the mouse buttons once a year for the
last 3 years. I was told that Dell replaced a metal
spring with a plastic one and it will continue to fail.
Is this is true, and if so is there an upgrade for this?
I watched a Youtube video about replacing the mouse
buttons where the buttons were on a seperate panel
but when we've had then replaced they always replace
the entire palm rest.
Anyone know the real story here?

Hi Jerry,
Welcome to the Community. If the Touchpad Buttons are not working/worn out, then the Palmrest needs to be replaced on this model.
If you have an active warranty, send me a Private Message, click on my User Name, add me as a friend, and send me your Service Tag, Phone number, and Address.
Thank you

Royan,
Ok I get the third party thing but I have a 8 year old Dell
D400 that has never had a mouse button problem and I know
I've pressed many, many more times than she has. The silver
coating is gone and the plastic is dimpled on the left button
but is still works as good as new?
Is there an upgraded button for the M1330 palm rest?

Hi,
You are looking at a 3rd party site on how to replace the touchpad buttons. At Dell we replace the entire palmrest, which has the touchpad buttons included to be on the safer side.
I have seen customers who use their laptops for games, wear out the touchpad buttons, than normal users. I would be one of them.
Thank you

Royan,
Thanks for the reply.
If you watch the youtube tutorial at:
starting around time 4:40 the tech removes the mouse
button panel from the palm rest and replaces it with
a new button panel but doesn't replace the palm rest.
Are these buttons going to continue to wear out?

Hi Jerry,
There is no upgraded palmrest or the touchpad buttons that I know off.
