M1330 Screen & Keyboard issues

I received my new xps m1330 recently, firstly i am disappointed with the screen. I paid the extra for the White LED screen after seeing a demo on youtube and it looked really good. I was expecting it to have quite a glossy screen, similar to those ive seen on friends laptops (of different brands).  However, the screen seems to be about the same thickness as the one on my 3 year old laptop, it has no flex (not that that matters!), and its neither glossy or much brighter than the old model.  Im wondering if perhaps i have not been sent the correct screen.  What have others experiences been with the LED screen?  and how do i find out if ive been sent the right one or not?  of course my order says i have(including original configuration), but i do not necessarily think this means its what has actually been built onto my system.  I have tried the 'current congifuration' through technical support so many times but it will not work!

My second problem is the keyboard, im finding that i have to type each key slowly and with firm pressure otherwise half the keys im hitting arent even registering.  Im wondering if this is just because its new? or if its just the effect of the standard keyboard in comparison to my previous laptop?  its very frustrating!

Thanks for any answers or advice!

Note; ive measured the thickness and its the same as the old one :S  Ive also got it on the brightest setting and its only a lil brighter than the old one too. The color also seems the same. How do i find out for sure if ive been given the right screen?

The keyboard isnt as bad today, strangely! maybe it just needs 'worn in'?! il try and find the post about keyboard response, as that sounds like what i need. I guess my main concern is the screen.  Thanks for both ur posts!

There are 2 types of LCDs - those with glossy plastic protecting the screen, and those with anti-glare coating and no extra plastic (as that would negate the benefit of anti-glare). The m1330 has the latter.

And yes, the screen will be "about" the size of old CCFL screens, but it will certainly be thinner if you actually put a ruler to it. It's actually the weight and power savings that make the difference. About the brightness: if you're not impressed, take note that LEDs are able to show truer colors than CCFLs.

In Control Panel, under Power Options, check your screen brightness settings.
Default lowers you 20-30% while on battery.
Also, you can adjust using [Fn] and [arrow up/down]
If you have the LED backlit screen the difference should be clear compared with any 3 year old laptop.

Keyboard response can be adjusted somewhere. There was a thread on that. Mine came fine for me, so I didn't pay attention about how to change it.

All LED can have only 0.3 MP webcam. So you can just launch WebCam center, switch to video mode and check supported resolutions. LED screens will have resolutions up to 640x480.

Or you can check configuration on-line on Dell's site: http://support.dell.com. Go to product support and enter service tag, then select something like "System configuration" on the left.
