M1530 Erratic Mouse Pad

I've just purchased an M1530, and I'm having problems with the mouse pad.  Whenever I lift the lid, or when the screensaver disengages, the relationship between the mouse pointer on the screen, and my finger on the mouse pad are in two different worlds...!!!!  It does this for about 1 - 2 minutes, and eventually settles down.

It's driving me mad....!!!!!

Has anybody else experienced this, and maybe found a solution?

Same here, but I have seen a lot of laptops that are that way.

Thanks for the link Chirp.  I would have felt a little better if DELL had fixed this by now, especially as they've known about it since January.  Did you ever get your mouse pad replaced?

You're welcome. :)

No, I didn't get it replaced. I actually bought a new XPS M1530 (because I wanted more RAM and a better processor and the price was too good to refuse) and the mouse pad for this new one does exactly the same thing as the old one, although this one is a little bit more responcive.

So, I've used a total of three XPS M1530 machines and all three have had the same problem, so I don't buy into the statement from Dell that this problem only occurs with a few machines, as far as I'm concerned it happens with them all.

This is probably because in a cost-reducing (pocketbook-padding) maneuver, Dell decided that if they went with sub-par touchpads, they could save a nickel or two on every laptop sold.

The touchpad on the M1530 is completely terrible, as are the drivers for it.

I don't mean to be a negative nancy here, but I wouldn't expect Dell to do much about it.

We have 2 Dells - an Inspiron 1525 and an XPS 1530 (both new)  and the touchpads are difficult for both.  This was a problem I was not aware of... It's sad because it's a good computer.  You look at processor speed, size of hard drive, amount on ram, type of monitor... you just don't think somebody like "Dell" is going to give you a "difficult" touchpad.  You would think some no name low end company would do something like that - not "Dell."

Hope you work it out - I just "workaround" it...
