M1710 ISSUES

I am well past my warranty, now to  the good stuff, my laptop was top notch, until one day i was in a hotel and got a virus, needless to say it got past the pccillin that was factory installed, i had to wack the hard drive and start over from scratch, i noticed in another message that was posted on here that dell doesn't have the right drivers on the cd for the XPS's, had i know that i would have bought something else, but i have had no luck installing the proper nvidia driver i have the 7950 GTX, dell swears up and down that the one on the cd is the correct one well they are wrong, i have the game Tom Clancy's Double Agent, with that game it had a hardware detection, before i got the virus i had check marks acrossed the board, now that i have reinstalled the driver from the cd and the one from dell and the one from nvidia and alienware, i still have a video card driver issue with that game, as i am unable to complete it because i keep walking through things, stairwells, walls you name it. what can i do to fix that problem.  As far as watching movies i have a problem that i think is related to the video card, i have to watch all my movies from media player because my powerdvd says that my tv output is not functioning properly??  also i have Assassin's Creed, it used to play but when i put the cd in to play it i get to the autorun feature and it almost starts the game then i get a popup that says please insert the original, i have the original.  I have windows xp media center, duo centrino 2.2ghz, 4g ram anything else you need to know just ask

Make sure you use a 'drive sweeper' from guru3d (or another maker). It'll remove all references to the messed up video driver and allow you to start with a clean slate then install a mod'd video driver as referenced in the previous message. Sadly it seems the mod'd drivers work better for providing all we all paid for than the Dell provided drivers.
