Sounds like a failing mainboard...is the system still under warranty?

Hi Conni Bazz,
You may update the system BIOS. Please refer to the link: http://dell.to/169ZBvY.
Note: Before updating BIOS please ensure that:
*Battery is 10%> or >10% charged
*Battery charger should be connected
*No external devices (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) should be connected.
*All other programs should be closed and documents saved
If this doesn’t work then the issue is with the motherboard and you may need to replace it. As the system is not covered under warranty, you may contact dell spares In US at 1-800-372-3355 to know the price of motherboard.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to reply for any further assistance.

Couple of months? Might be worth calling Dell and begging them to repair it FOC
Otherwise
www.parts-people.com/index.php
plus say an extra $100 for someone to fit it.

Thanks for the help Paul! Bit annoyed at only having this laptop just over a year after spending a fair chunk on it only for it to break like this....

Hi Conni Bazz,
I regret for the inconvenience. Dell provides warranty extension on systems to ensure that if a system goes bad it can be repaired under warranty. The maximum warranty you may avail on a system is for 5 years.
Please feel free to reply. I will be glad to assist you.

I had the same issue back in nov '11 and was suggested to get my drivers updated, didnt fix the problem and to this day no one has helped me at dell. I found out after running my own tests that it was the same problem as yours. So I contacted dell and was told I would have to replace the board out of pocket. So here is my proposition for every customer who get schwindled and given the run around by a company, who in my opinion, does not care one bit about their customer.
Report them to the BBB. Its time this company loses it's rating. This my fellow scammed people will be the only way to strike back at a company that sells you broken, plastic, Chinese made garbage,
