M60 overclock

Does anyone successful using any utilities to overclock Quadro FX Go 700 engine clock? It seems that if not using autodetect in driver, no utlities can oc it (so bad my one freeze using autodetect ~~ its autodetect so high...).

I can successful overclock the memory to 720. core still fix at 295.

Any idea??

coolbits try. engine clock can't over 240... but default is already 295.

nVHardpage can set over 295, but actual the engine clock still 295 (no effect)

Overclocking a laptop is a really bad idea as there is no place for the heat to go.  However, if you are going to do so you might want to get fangui as it has a GPU temperature readout so you can monitor the heat build up.  BTW-I purchased a Sony PGC-GRT170 to replace my Dell I8100.  It has a FX5600go that is clocked at 275/600 and I can only clock it up to 285 before corruption on the screen, unfortunately, it does not have a way of monitoring GPU temp.  Oh Well.

Not bad, but with 4200Go and those specs you should be getting better, looks like the FXGo isn't worth waiting for.

Here are the benchmarks-Using modded NVIDIA reference drivers 44.67

After oc memory to 720 only, i don't have any heat problem, or at least I don't feel it is hotter than not oc. After oc, i still can use my notebook over 3 hours for 3D games with modular battery (near the same as not oc). So I just wonder any effect on with oc engine clock too .

My 3dmark 2001 result for 295/720:

1. 1920X1200     5400

2. 1600X1200

Use the options menu on the top-right corner of your posts to edit them!

Oh yeah, and run the tests at 1280x1024, then you can compare to other users as that is the standard configuration.

It depends on what one wants.  The GF4200go is not really a mobile chip.  It was a stopgap measure from NVIDIA to get them past ATI's M9 release and as such it has a number of drawbacks.  The GF4200Go has a very large die size, no internal TV decoder, poor (for mobile) heat rejection properties and is old technology.  When I looked at the I8500 at the GDC it ran hot enough for it to burn the bottom of my hand; whereas my Sony I can hold when it run 3D.  The fans on the Sony are much quieter;  so now when I play games while my wife watches TV she no longer get's upset because she can not hear the TV.  The 4200Go is not a DX9 part so it can not run any DX9 features.  3DMark2k3 does not get over 2k because it can not run test number 4.  It is possible that 3DMark2k1SE may run faster on the 4200Go but the difference is not significant; the FX5600Go is faster on 3DMark2k3 and the difference there is significant.  The FX5600Go is a better choice for a laptop.

Yeah the fans can be annoying, even my M9 will make the fans run at very high speeds when running a demanding game. 3dMark03 scores are nice but apply to very few games, so if you want a notebook graphics card for today's games, get the 4200Go, but if you are buying your laptop for the long term I guess the FX is a better choice.

Yeah 1024x768, oops.

Can someone help me out here.  Just got the M60 two weeks ago and installed Rivatuner (which has the Coolbits hack), so in advanced settings I can now access the Nvidia Clock Frequencies tab.  Under default settings I can confirm what everyone else has reported, 295/590 on 3D and 120/250 on 2D.  Problem is that if check the box for enable overclocking, I can then slide the core and memory clock sliders all the way up to only 295/600, which apparently is my MAX!  In another post CECarl reported he was able to move the sliders up to 325/650 with stable results, and others on this board are playing with memory clocked at 720.  What gives???  Did I get a bum piece of silicon, or am I missing something here???

Also my 3DMark 2001SE scores are around 9400, but my 3DMark 2003 is only around 1800.  Everyone else seems to report 03 scores of 2600.  Are people using build 320 or 330.  I know the 330 patch was designed to eliminate the cheating Nvidia was doing on benchmarks, so maybe that's the issue...
