Make it stop please

Question

I have a Inspiron 15 3521 laptop. Its about 7 years old now  but still hanging in there. Every 30 minutes or so an advertisement comes on and plays some add about various items for sale. Even with the browser (chrome) turned off, you can still hear the add playing in the background. I keep the sound turned off, but when I do want to hear something, the add comes through on top of it. I have checked the pop up blocker, run virus scans, run the dell pc scans, restarted it, and it still comes on.  Any advice? Thanks, Steve

Install a copy of Malwarebytes (the free version is fine) and do a deep scan.

Thanks for the reply, I tried the Maleware trick but it still keeps playing the adds. Any thing else to try?
