McAfee removal

We have just recieved a Nice new laptop and it is littered with McAfee all over the operating system we use a corporate version of Norton and do not want McAfee due to bad experience with it in the past but every time I have seen it removed it screws the operating system when norton is then installed.

Can we get backing from Dell if we remove it?

We did not want it but did not expect it to autoinstall.

I think the best thing to do is to clean your OS(fomrat or better fdisk) and reinstall everything again and then install whatever antivirus you like. Usually when you receive a new computer you have many programs you don't need installed and this is the best solution to make it run faster and clean your HDD. DELL sells Norton as well as McAfee so you can have support for both. What you have now as McAfee is actually a trial version (unless you choose it in the Customize section and pay for it), so you will not have any problem with DELL if you remove it.

I prefer McAfee or CA over Norton but this is just me.

If you don't want to erase your HDD, you can find some programs to clean your registry on the Internet, after you uninstall whatever software you don't like from your new machine. I can't remember now any name, but I will get back here on Tuesday with a product name (we use something in the IT department).
