memory address error

I'm working on an Inspiron 5160 with Win XP sp2, 1GB ram in orig configuration .(now shows up as 164MB ram though due to error)

Error message prior to bootup into  windows
Memory address line failure at 0a3cc010, read c3c382c3 expecting c3c3c3c3
Decreasing available memory
Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utilities.

Description of problem
After Bios update, the given error shows up. Bios downgrade does not remove the problem. Windows uses only 164MB of available 1GB RAM.

Steps that caused problem, steps taken after problem
Initially existing Bios version: A05
I upgraded bios to A08 after getting the recommended bios for this system through file I5160A08.exe.
System gave memory error at bootup. F1 key allows bootup into windows. But system properties in Win. XP showed only 164MB of RAM is used.
Downgraded to bios version A07, no change in error
Downgraded to bios version AO5 (original bios version), still no change in error.
All bios changes were done with extreme caution.

Should I?
Put the bios file on a CD, and go into safe mode command prompt, and then run the bios file with the WIPECLEAN command?

biosfilename.exe /wipeclean

If anyone else has tried it, let me know
