MEMORY RAM PROBLEM

Hi there,

I instaled a new memory ram for my laptop STUDIO 1537. Now It has 4 GB. However, the total physical memory is just 2,99 GB.  What happend? Why the system information made this mistake? What is wrong?

Please help me!!!!!!!!

I look forward to hearing an answer soon.

Best wishes,

Juan

If you are using a 32bit version of windows it will only show 3 to 3.5 Gbs it is normal. You need a 64 bit version to accsess 4 Gbs. See the link below.

Hi Juan

I'm no expert, but as far as I'm aware, if your OS is 32 bit Windows XP or  Vista, it will only recognise around 3 Gb of RAM. I think you would have to upgrade to 64 bit for your full amount to be recognised. I've just upgraded my memory to 4Gb also, and I have effectively got 3.25 Gb available. Hope that helps.
