Missing Registry Files

hi i have been trying to install the SIMS2 and it keeps coming up with a message: A problem occured when trying to transfer the file 'TBSin/Sims2.exe' from the media file. do you want to retry to copy the file, or cancel the instalation? Also struggling to install any other games.

I have tried to install it manually but getting a message saying: AutorunGUI.dll

Apparently this means some of my registry files are missing or corrupt. can anyone verify this for me and let me know what the best thing is to do!

My system is a dell Inspiron 6400, 1.86ghz processor, 120gb hd, and an intel 945GM express integratedchip set and a 1024mb ram. it is 6 months old.

thanks in advance for any information!!

Have you tried reinstalling the game from scratch after uninstalling what you have?

hi thanks for your message. the game is not even installing onto my laptop. none of them are. this is happening before installment. i also have the sims2 life stories, and it keeps saying that i dont have directx 9.0c on my system but i can download it from microsoft. the thing is, i do have it, and it is even included on the game disk! ive tried downloading drivers and installing the games manual, but i think it is just the registry files. the computer is still under warranty. not sure whether to send it back to dell, or if there is something i can do myself.

See if this thread helps you with the directx9.0c issue.
