Mointer Display Problem - Inspiron 9300.

hi,

i started having trouble with my laptop's display about two months ago. for some reason when ever there is activity on the computer the moniter's display goes quite bad. if you don't touch the laptop for 10mins or so it goes back to the normal display, then as soon as you start to use it again the display goes weird.

i've tried downloading all the latest drives. i've also turned off the virus scanner & firewall thinking that was blocking any programs the display uses but no luck.

my system:
- Inspiron 9300
- Windows XP (SP2)
- Display Adapter - ATI Mobility Radeon X300 (Driver Version: 8.162.0.0)

below is a screen shot of the displays problem: http://users.tpg.com.au/omalleys/dell/display_screenshot.jpg

can anyone shed any light on this?
thanks.

If an external monitor shows the same fault, the video chip is faulty.

If it does not, reseat the data cable inside the system (see below); if that does not fix it, the panel needs repair or replacement.

great thanks for the tips. i'll try them.

what do you mean by the 'data cable' inside the system?
and also 'the panel (needs repair or replacement)'?

i can't seem to find the information in the manual.

thanks.
