Mouse Pad N4110
Upgraded to windows 8. I usually disable the mousepad and use a wireless since my big paws unintentionally swipe over the pad and move the cursor when typing; however, now the mouse pad won't disable via the Fn+F3 controls. Only the light comes on the pad which indicates it isn't completely disabled but just not functioning correctly. Is there a fix or work around? You should see some of the dippy sentences I type before realizing what's going on. Appreciate any help or direction with this problem.

I would like to know, if you have uninstall the touch-pad and Quickset drivers from the computer and installed them from the links mentioned in previous posts.

Hi surferbob644,
Try to disable touch-pad using just F3 key, this is because Fn key combination is not required if the Function Key behavior is set to Multimedia key.
If issue persists, uninstall the existing touch-pad and Quickset drivers from the computer, then restart the computer.
After that download and install touch-pad drivers using the following link: http://dell.to/Q8Mpkk
Also download and install the Quickset using the following link: http://dell.to/Z7iEob
Please post the results.

Why don't you just disable it in Device Manager.....

Sorry Madhur B for not responding sooner. I never received a response notice that someone had answered my question. I did as you instructed but the problem persists. I checked the BIOS and it is set to Multimedia. I switched to Function which didn't correct the behavior of the touchpad, and then back to Multimedia. Actually, the light above the touchpad comes on indicating that the pad is disabled but it isn't; any other suggestions you might have I would appreciate.

I suppose I'll have too. It would be nice to be able to fix at least one annoyance I have with this laptop.

Hey Madhur B,
With your email instigation, I gave it another go and it worked this time. I must have done something wrong the first time. I think it's the re-start after uninstalling touch-pad. Anyway, all is fine now. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday season.
