N5110 CPU problems

I recently replaced the motherboard on my n5110 with Nvidia GPU and I was wondering why the new motherboard is seemingly not accepting the CPU (I7-2630qm)  I have tried replacing the CPU with the same model to no resolve. I am wondering if it's possible my motherboard has shipped with a version of BIOS that does not support the I7-2630qm cpu and if it is possible to flash it if that is the case.?

Look for the latest release of the BIOS (ask the seller).  If you still can't get the system to POST, be sure the CPU is securely seated in the socket and locked down.

It IS possible - and has not been uncommon - for there to be differentn versions of boards within the same model.  Some do and some don't support quad-core CPUs.  This was very true of the older Studio line.  Systems that shipped with i3 or i5 CPUs did not support i7 quads.

It may be a similar situation here -- but I don't recall that being a factor with this model.  It's also possible you got a DOA mainboard.

Interesting, so how do I know which BIOS revisions are not compatible with the I7-2630qm?

If it's the BIOS version - which is possible - you'll need to install a supported CPU to flash upgrade.

Interesting. This is my service tag number: GZ1LBR1 and from physical inspection of the motherboard this is the replacement I ordered. www.parts-people.com/index.php I fear here might be the problem. However Dell does not make it apparently clear which board I needed to buy from the components list.
